To provide an organisation for ASEAN Accountants for the further advancement of the status of the profession in the region with the view to establishing an ASEAN philosophy on the accounting profession.
The AFA Council Members convened in Brunei Darussalam for its 124th AFA Council Meeting on 5 May 2017. This meeting was hosted by the Brunei Darussalam Institute of Certified Public Accountants (BICPA) at the Rizqun International Hotel. It was the first meeting held in 2017 attend by all Primary Members and Associate Members.
In this meeting, the AFA Council welcomed The Association of Accounting Technician United Kingdom (AAT) as the new AFA Associate Member. The AFA Council were delighted and look forward to working together with AAT to achieve our common goal of contributing to the development the accountancy profession in the ASEAN Region.
Aside from the usual attendees, AFA also welcome the representative of the IFRS Asia-Oceania Office, Mr. Mitsuhiro Takemura. During his appearance, Mr. Takemura share the key information about the IFRS Foundation and its activities. This Brunei Meeting was also attend by the representative of the World Bank, Mr. Christopher Fabling, in this meeting Mr. Fabling update the AFA Council about the current status of World Bank project, which is supported by AFA.
In conjunction with the 124th AFA Council Meeting, BICPA was also celebrating its 30th Anniversary. To mark its 30th years Anniversary, BICPA was held the National Accounting Forum and also the launching the BICPA 30th Years Anniversary Book. This event was held in Rizqun International Hotel and also attend by all AFA Council Members. AFA congratulate the BICPA on it 30th Anniversary and wish the very best for BICPA.
